Everybody experiences stiff, painful muscles from time to time. Aching muscles often involve more than just the affected muscle. It can also involve connective tissue such as fascia, tendons and ligaments. Although muscle pain often results from intense physical activity, you can also experience stiff muscles when you get out of bed in the morning. Instances of muscle pain tend to increase as you age.
There are various possible causes of muscle aches, pain and stiffness. A common reason you may experience pain and stiffness is from overuse of a specific group of muscles, such as during exercise or certain types of physical labor. Overexertion during exercise can also cause stiffness and pain, especially if you do not allow for proper recovery time after your workout. Tension and stress can cause you to unconsciously tighten your muscles, resulting in muscle pain and aches. If you experience muscle pain throughout your entire body, instead of just one localized area, you may be experiencing a reaction to certain types of medication or have an infection or an illness like fibromyalgia.
When you have pain, the last thing you might feel like doing is exercising. However, maintaining a physically active lifestyle and engaging in regular exercise can result in decreased muscle pain and fatigue stemming from your pain symptoms. Massage therapy is beneficial for reducing pain and increasing circulation. Massage can also help alleviate the stress and tension causing your symptoms. Your doctor may suggest prescription medication or refer you to a physical therapist for further evaluation and treatment if your symptoms do not respond to home care techniques.
Warning! Muscle stiffness and pain are usually not signs of a serious medical condition and can be resolved with self-care techniques. However, sometimes muscle pain and stiffness can be a sign of an underlying condition. If your pain persists for longer than three days or is accompanied by additional symptoms, contact your doctor.
Yesterday, I got a chance to talk to my brother who works as a bank teller. He shares that he no longer finds his current job as exciting and enjoyable. Boredom and stress keeps on growing in him. That’s why he is trying to find another career opportunity he thinks will help him get rid of those things.
Whew! The hot summer days isn’t over yet even if the forecast keeps insisting it is. How can it be over when the temperature still reaches 36 °C, which feels like more than that? I just can’t stay comfortably in the house in that kind of temperature. I just wish it rains during the day to at least lower the temperature even for a bit. Even my parents back in my hometown, where air conditioning system is installed, still complain about the hotness they feel.
The new semester is already here, but my brother is still unsure whether he is coming back to school or not. He did stop last year because he becomes unsure what he wanted with his life. Although my parents became furious with his decision, in some way I find it a good thing. Continuing something that he doesn’t want is a waste of both time and money. At least pausing for a moment will give him time to think of his life and the future he would want to have.
When I was young, I always thought the medical people will always give their best to cure patients because it is their profession. But, when I grow up I’m a little disappointed to learn there is this so-called medical malpractice. By definition, it is a professional negligence by a health care provider in which care provided deviates from accepted standards of practice in the medical community that causes injury or death to the patient, with most cases involving medical error.
A few days ago, we got too busy attending to the needs of our visitors. Actually, they are the relatives of the house owners that went here for a vacation. My head really hurt after realizing there are 10 people who will be spending a week here. It wouldn’t be an issue if this is a big house, but it isn’t. So, we’ll just have to deal with the crowded situation especially during meal time.
Lots of women are reluctant to perform leg-strength-training exercises. A common fear is that heavy weights will result in a larger pair of hips and thighs. However, research found that women can develop lean, shapely legs without lifting heavy weights. That lean muscle mass can be enhanced through simple movements utilizing only your body weight.
