moments that unfold to get this job

It’s May already; this is the month where I will finish my six month probationary period. Time really fly so fast. It feels that it was just yesterday when I joined the company, but in after few days I will become part of the regular employees. I guess I’m really enjoying my job that I tend to forget the days passing by. Of course, special days aren’t part of that.

I will just rewind some of the moments that unfold to get this job. I actually submitted my resume twice for this company both online and through a person. I thought it’s a futile feat because it takes about three weeks before I got a reply. My heart jumps when I heard I’m scheduled for an interview. As always, I feared that I will blow my one and only chance during the interview. But, it was such a great relief when the panel told me that I’m hired. I feel like floating in the air when I heard the news.

However, I’m on the shaking ground again during the employment background checks. I’m applying for a financial institution so it’s really required to scrutinize for the safety of the company. The only problem is that I forgot my exact salary from the previous company. So, there was a discrepancy in the results that delay the processing of my joining date. They have to investigate again whether or not I’m telling the truth or not. Good thing I was able to make my way out because I’m really honest when I said I forgot the exact amount. It’s been four years since I left that company and became freelance. So, it’s quite understandable to forget things like that.

For now, I’m happy that I’m part of the company. I’m really enjoying myself so I can say I’m giving what is expected of me.

finally got my most awaited day off

At last after eight straight days of working, I finally got my most awaited day off. Actually, my off is scheduled on Wednesday, but due to training it was moved to this day. I thought my boss is serious for saying my weekly off is already forfeited. Good thing, he finally offered me this day to rest, which really makes me happy. I was able to sleep for more than eight hours, which lessen my eye bags.

If I am in my home country, I’m definitely sitting in the soft patio cushions in my yard with my mom chatting while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea. It’s a very pleasurable and relaxing moment. But, I’m thousands of nautical miles away from home. All I can do now is to enjoy a cup of coffee while setting in front of my window looking at the passers-by six floors below. It made me miss my home even more.

Travel with Comfortability in Motorhome Hire

There are a lot of amazing things you can do when traveling in a hired motorhome. For one, you can bring it with you. You get to go anywhere with it. Everything is hassle free! You can get a motorhome hire nowadays for a cheap price. You can go for a motorhome with toilet and shower and even opt to have a microwave and fridge, too.

This is also a good way to get to know your partner better. What could be better than breaking the ice when you are on your own trip, doing it your way? No tour guides to nudge us. No restrictions. This is a sure way to travel when you’re on a budget, and the surest way for family bonding too.

I like it this way, randomly picking out your own tour and unscheduled stops. This way, I could really get some good footage with the surrounding area and even with the wacky locals! Plus, I get to bring my own homemade sandwich. I could stock up on my own bread and spread.

I’ve got no worries and no frills about it, too. I have a bed to sleep on. Which is the number one thing to consider! And not to mention storage space and air conditioning. You can bring your closet and store them. Did I mention toilet and shower? Much cheaper than staying in a hotel or even a motel. And the place needs little maintenance. With the space and comfortability, I might buy my own in the future. [Read more...]

bought the wrong curtain

Like I said we are not yet done fixing the house. There is still a lot of things to do including choosing the best curtain. Actually, our room has a huge window, from ceiling to floor. We miscalculated it and bought the wrong curtain, which is just half way. Yep, it did not fit the entire window; one fourth of it is still open. But, we can’t return it because we already throw the receipt. So, all we can do is to purchase the right one.

The thing is finding that type of curtain is quite difficult. Plus, we don’t have the luxury of time to roam around. My option is online shopping at upholstery fabric at FabricOnTheNet.net. It’s the leading online source of discounted home décor fabric and trim. All fabrics and trims are first quality and are stored in a smoke-free environment. Plus, they offer the kind of design that matches my sheets.

I hope this time, I’ll get to pick the accurate measurement for my curtain.

learning good time management

Oh it’s been ages since the last time I posted something here. My job always gets in the way of my other activities. I know that should not be the excuse because I should learn good time management, which is what I’m trying to do. Well, I might be able to do that perfectly in the long run. For now, I will just go with the flow.

Anyway, I just want to share that finally we transferred to a new house, which is bigger and better as compared to the previous one. But, like my brother-in-law said, it is still empty. We don’t have budget to purchase all the furniture we need. So, we will buy it one at a time, which is also a good thing so I can pick the best furniture that suits my taste. For now, I’m checking ashley furniture and many of it captures my heart. Of course, I still need to ask hubby’s opinion about it before making a decision.

Oh well, I guess decorating our room will take few more months before completion. I’m excited to see the result of my plans.

Effective Way to Avoid Travel Insomnia

Now you are finally ensconced in your hotel room and as night wears on and darkness descends, you become aware of all the invading noises and cracks of light that play havoc with your time to rest.  Too boot, you are likely dealing with jet lag and the effects of crossing multiple time zones.  We all know this throws of four circadian rhythm.

Here is how to make the best of a trip and get the best sleep possible.  It is generally wise to plan ahead.  In terms of dealing with the time zone change and the effects on your circadian rhythm, it is always best to take two to three nights ahead of flying and start going to bed in the time zone you are headed to.  In other words, you are attempting to reset your biological clock, so that when you arrive at your destination you are already sleeping and waking in a new zone.  Few actually do this, but if you are alight, sensitive sleeper, it’s always best to adapt ahead of time.  It will save you much grief on the other end.

If you find that challenging to do, start your pre-sleep routine just that much earlier.  Begin your meditation and relaxation pre-bed routine one half hour earlier the first night and then an hour ahead the next night.  Remember to adjust your morning rising time to accommodate the challenges of arrival, particularly if traveling eastward.  The reverse is true for traveling westward – stay up later – get up later.  It’s always easier traveling west than east.

If space allow, pack your own pillow. Recognizing the comfort of your own things while in a hotel room helps to encourage your on-going restfulness. Sleep tight while traveling.

Soy can help you Lose Weight?

The humble soybean boasts some extraordinary benefits. This nutritional powerhouse has stayed under wraps for too long. Apart from being the only vegetable protein with all 22 amino acids essential for our health and well being, the humble soybean has many other virtues including an excellent foundation for fast, safe weight loss program.

According to Dr David Heber in “The LA Shape Diet” women who are on a weight loss program, need about 100 grams of protein per day to fight against hunger and to build their best personal lean muscle shape whilst still losing weight. Without the appropriate level of proteins in a low calorie diet, people and women in particular, risk losing 1 pound of muscle for every 4 pounds of weight lost!

Dr Heber recommends soy-protein shakes or soy-protein fruit smoothies as a safe and healthy way to achieve fast and permanent weight loss. Apart from the wonderful health advantages of soy, this a safe protein source without the unwanted cholesterol and saturated fats that accompany animal protein sources and sabotage low calorie weight loss programs.

Read on to discover some other wonderful benefits of this incredible this food source.

  1. Soy contains health enhancing isoflavones. Isoflavones are compounds found only in plants which have strong antioxidant properties. hese compounds repair, and help prevent damage to cells caused by pollution, sunlight, and normal body processes. Free radicals can easily cause harm to the immune system, whose cells divide often. They may also be responsible for some of the changes of aging.
  2. Reduce risk of heart disease. Soy’s protein and isoflavones lower LDL cholesterol and decrease blood clotting, which reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke. In one study, people who drank a “milk shake” containing 25g of soy protein for nine weeks experienced, on average, a 5% reduction in LDL cholesterol. And people with the highest LDL levels experienced a 11% drop. (For each 10% to 15% drop in the LDL level, the risk of a heart attack decreases 20% to 25%).
  3. Protection against cancer. Soy’s soluble fiber protects the body from many digestive related cancers, such as colon and rectal cancer. While its isoflavones may protect the body from many hormone related cancers, like breast, endometrial (uterine) and prostate cancer. Isoflavones act against cancer cells in a way similar to many common cancer-treating drugs.
  4. Counter the effects of endometriosis. The isoflavones in soy products may help to offset the action of the body’s natural estrogen, which is often responsible for instigating the monthly pain, heavy bleeding and other symptoms of endometriosis.
  5. Protect against prostate problems. Eating soy products may protect against enlargement of the male prostate gland. The size of the prostate gland tends to increase with age, causing various types of urinary difficulties, including frequent nighttime awakenings.
  6. Guard against osteoporosis. Soy’s protein enhances the body’s ability to retain and better absorb calcium in the bones, while its isoflavones slow bone loss and inhibit bone breakdown, which helps prevent osteoporosis. There is evidence to suggest that isoflavones may also assist in creating new bone.
  7. Control symptoms of menopause and perimenopause. Soy’s isoflavones help the body regulate estrogen when this hormone is declining or fluctuating, which helps alleviate many menopausal and PMS symptoms. Research has shown that soy isoflavones can reduce menopausal hot flushes in women.
  8. Help control diabetic conditions and kidney disease. Soy’s protein and soluble fiber help regulate glucose levels and kidney filtration, which helps control diabetic conditions and kidney disease.
