importance of financial backup

After the hospital discharged hubby, is the only time everything sinks in to me. I got too nervous about the incident and could not think about anything else, but get him cured. His sister took care of the expenses, but it ends up being our debt. I can’t argue about it because he said that he will pay for everything after the operation. The only problem I have now is where to get the money to pay it.

This is the only time I realize the importance of having a financial backup. We already used much of our savings. The only amount left is the bank’s maintaining balance. Yet, we still have huge debt. Our income every month could not suffice to pay off everything. We will have to pay it staggered or left hungry for the next few months.

Now I will try to convince hubby to purchase an insurance plan. I already checked for some life, health and term life insurance quotes. That way I have something to present to him when asked how much is needed every month.

while leisurely lying

I have been leisurely lying in the couch while watching television earlier this day when my mom came to pick me up. I forgot that we have an agreement to go to the tailoring shop to fix hubby’s pants. I rushed to fix myself and in just 20 minutes I am done.

She led the way and we arrived in a tailoring shop where one man is just blowing his cigars. I don’t know if he is using White Owl cigars or other brand. But, mom cut him off by lending the pants to him. Obviously he is the only one who is not busy. Good thing he did not refuse it. It just amazed me that he fixed the four pants in just an hour. He is really skilled in his field. The not so good thing is that he charged a lot. Hehehe! Now hubby scolded me instead of praising me for having his pants fixed. Too unfair! That’s why I hate him now.

Basic Dress Layering for Cold Weather

Basic Dress Layering for Cold WeatherWhen you step outside, you should feel slightly chilled but not cold. During your workout, you want to feel warm, not hot and sweaty. That means you need to dress in layers so that you can take them off or put more on as needed. Here are the basics of layering:

  • An inner layer made of synthetic fabric such as CoolMax to wick sweat away so you stay dry
  • A middle, or insulating, layer (or two) of light-weight fleece fabric such as Polartec to keep you warm
  • An outer layer of waterproof, breathable fabric such as Gore-Tex to buffer you from the elements and let sweat escape; and
  • Don’t forget a hat, gloves, and sunscreen.

searching device to reduce water consumption

I want to give my parents a device where they can reduce the consumption of water. Their bill for water is too high every month. I even joke that their water consumption resembles those of car wash station. That is the very reason I am scouting for rain barrels prices. I want to study whether or not I’ll be able to buy it. I think there is a bigger savings if they will use rain water in watering the plants and other outdoor use.

If ever I purchase it, I know exactly where to place it. My mom has been complaining about her neighbors extended gutters that downpours the water in our yard. She can place the barrels beneath the opening of their gutters and it will be filled with water in just a short period. Hmmm, this is really a good idea. I have to continue my search now.

good thing I remember

It is a good thing I remember the online backup article I post somewhere in this blog. It came in handy as hubby’s computer malfunction early this morning. He immediately decided to format his computer, but he can’t find a storage device to backup his files. Since my mind is fresh and still stress free, I was able to memorize the online backup site called the nextadvisor.

He immediately starts copying the files. Even though he is in the process, he keeps whining. Whenever that happens all I want to do is to escape and go somewhere far from him. But, I can’t do that now. He needs all the attention I can give him because he just came out of the hospital. Lucky for him I guess.

some practical tips to prevent passport problem

some practical tips to prevent passport problemMore or less carelessness is the number one reason for a passport application being rejected or delayed or for a passport being lost, stolen, or damaged. What steps are necessary to prevent these things from happening? How can you take care of your passport? Well, here are some practical tips you can follow to acquire your passport, keep it in your possession, and preserve it in good condition.

  • Check to see if you even need a passport – countries can, and often do, change foreign entry requirements. If you arrive at the airport without the required documents, you’ll be denied boarding privileges. And, of course, this isn’t covered by travel insurance. Currently, more than 80% of the world’s countries require a valid passport for entrance. It’s important to verify the foreign entry requirements for the country you plan to visit as early as possible.
  • Apply for your passport early – you should apply for a new passport at least 90 days before your departure date. For a renewal, begin the process 8 to 11 months before your passport expires. Why so early? Many countries require that your passport have six to eight months of validity remaining before they will issue a visa.
  • Fill out the correct form correctly – Each type of passport service has specific criteria that must be met. Make sure you get the right application form, and then fill it in carefully. Double-check each entry. Ask a friend or relative to verify it as well. Errors made on the application form can lead to delays, or even rejection of your passport request.
  • Follow the specifications for the required documents exactly – When applying for a new passport, the most frequently used documents are a certified birth certificate for proof of citizenship along with a valid driver’s license for proof of your identity.

Your birth certificate must be a certified copy with a registrar’s raised, embossed, impressed, or multicolored seal, registrar’s signature, and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar’s office, which must be within 1 year of your birth. No photocopies are accepted. Your driver’s license must be more than six months old.

For a passport renewal, your previous passport serves as both proof of citizenship and proof of identity. To be valid, it cannot be mutilated, altered, or damaged in any way. You must send two identical passport photos taken within the last 6 months. These passport photos must be 2″x2″ with a plain white or off-white background. They have to be a full-face view with the head being from 1 to 1 3/8 inches from the chin to the top of the head. The photos can be either color or black and white.

getting back to his senses

After the long wait, my brother finally has a girlfriend. It took him three years before he commits to a relationship again. Hi previous one is traumatizing. He has difficulty in trusting and loving again. That is why it is good to hear that he is back in his senses and finally moved on.

As of now, I am trying to help him find the perfect gifts for her. For sure, he doesn’t know what to give. Of course, I don’t want to step into his life. I’m just giving him hints of the best gifts that a girl will like since I am a girl myself. But, I am not expecting that he will follow me because I don’t want to be held liable in whatever reaction he receives from her.
