If you have plantar fasciitis-inflammation in the band of tissue connecting your heel bone to the base of your toes- a simple exercise can relieve your pain, reports a study from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Ithaca College. Sit with your legs crossed so that the ankle of your injured foot rests on the opposite knee. With your hand, stretch the arch of the foot by pulling your toes (all five at once) back toward your knee, using your other hand to make sure that the arch is stretched tight. Hold it for ten seconds, then release; repeat five to ten times. Do the exercise at least three times a day, 75 percent of patients who tried the exercise for a few months needed no other treatment.

I remember when Katie Holmes first became famous; she was a tall brunette with long hair, a warm smile and a “girl next door” air that made her an instant hit with audiences everywhere. So much that, in fact, she was labeled all sort of flattering things by magazine editors to the sort of girl one wants to bring home to meet the parents and marry. No one imagined at the time that Katie Holmes’ popularity as an actress would soon be overwhelmingly surpassed by the constant attention directed at her for becoming Tom Cruise’s wife and an avid fashionista and trend setter.
